The selected individual will be responsible for analysis of work flow & will assess system needs, plan, design, implement & evaluate system applications. The qualified candidate will be an RN with a preferred BSN, posses comprehensive knowledge of nursing practices, 2 yrs of current acute care nursing experience, as well as preferred experience with IT implementation projects.Participate as an active and integral member of the information technologies services department, to help maintain the standards of care and practice through clinical systems improvement, activities and clinical staff education as it relates to information technology. The candidate will also assist with the identification, evaluation, and assessment of new care delivery technology, developing recommendations on the impact of integration with existing workflows and systems.Major Duties:Meets organizational expectations as defined by the Employee Standards of Performance, hospital and department policies and procedures, and the hospital s strategic goals.Verbalizes a clear understanding of continuous quality improvement and customer satisfaction measures and actively participates in improvement initiatives.Responsible as a thought leader for maximizing technology design to achieve the best clinical outcomes and leads the organization''s approach to clinical documentation in collaboration with the Nursing Informatics Committee.Participates in the development and implementation of clinical and physician information systems to ensure desired goals and objectives are met.Ensure that new or modified clinical information systems maintain patient confidentiality and privacy, in accordance with HIPAA and Joint Commission.Researches and coordinates the implementation of clinical computer applications which provide optimum productivity, patient confidentiality, and system security and are in accordance with the organization s long-range goals.Specializes in patient care processes and clinician workflow and leads initiatives to promote effective process design, development, and implementation of the Electronic Medical Record and other technologies.Partners with nursing informatics committee to facilitate advanced clinical decision support implementation within the electronic medical record in order to meet clinical goals.Solve application and workflow issues and work through barriers to achieve results by collaborating effectively with users and the Information Technology staff.Participates in development, monitoring and evaluation of technology and decision support (barcode point of care, rules, order sets, etc.) for continuous improvement.Responsible for implementing, managing, and enforcing information security directives which aremandated by HIPAA.Ensure the ongoing integration of information security with business strategies and requirements. Ensure that the access control, disaster recovery, business continuity, incident response, and risk management needs of the organization are properly addressed. Lead information security awareness and training initiative to educate workforce about information risks. Perform ongoing information risk assessments and audits to ensure that information systems are adequately protected and meet HIPAA certification requirements. Manage workflow and business process changes to ensure the success and optimization of new or modified clinical information systems. Provide writing and documentation support to capture business area reporting requirements.Develop and implement auditing and review processes to ensure project goals and objectives are met. Deliver regular reports that clearly communicate the results and/or progress of clinical systems initiatives.Monitor system performance, and report to IT when anomalies, errors, inaccuracies, or inefficiencies occur. Make recommendations as needed. Remain abreast of trends and developments in the field of clinical informatics and associated software.Utilizes the knowledge and skills of clinical practice to determine clinical functions that are suitable for computer application and to ensure the Information Systems are consistent with professional standards of clinical practice. Must work nursing shifts as required. Responsible for troubleshooting, researching and resolving any and all McKesson Paragon related issues, including working with vendor to reach resolution and timelines for system patches and upgrades.Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth operation of the organization. Education/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Preferred: 2-5 years experience with McKesson Paragon hospital information system.2 years experience with IT implementation, project management and/or application supportWorking knowledge of clinical performance improvement; excellent verbal, written and presentation skills. Patient safety knowledge.Adept at persuading and training physicians and staff to adopt new workflows and tools, requiring strong knowledge of change management. Strong knowledge of systems analysis, workflow planning, gathering business requirements and transforming them into functional specifications.Able to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and healthcare guides.Excellent ability to translate technical terminology for consumption by non-technical audiences. Knowledge of adult learning and training methods.Good familiarity with project management, quality assurance, and information.Required:3 years minimum healthcare experience.. Positive attitude with excellent communication skills.
